Motorola started a tender process in January 2020 to appoint a company to design, build and manage the installation of our new office interior at Midpoint, Alencon Link, Basingstoke. The fit out space was over 2 floors: 1st Floor (6000sq ft) 4th Floor (14000 sq ft), including alterations to existing air conditioning systems. The Vibe tender and presentation really stood out, their attention to detail was fantastic and met all the criteria within our brief. We appointed Vibe in February 2020. Despite the challenges of a worldwide pandemic and UK lockdown Vibe working closely with us and managed the project fantastically well understanding fully why the requirement to complete soon was needed. Providing daily updates via video call when lockdown meant that we were unable to meet face to face or on site. The Vibe team kept us very well informed and responded to queries immediately, they were all very responsive, always on hand suggesting a number of improvements along the way, even when it saved us money. They worked quickly as a team to deal with last minute changes and challenges that arose as well as working without own estates team to ensure social distancing measures were put in place for limited working. Brief

Our brief was to design and create a workplace that reflected the culture of Motorola Solutions and that could support their 200 strong technical team.

Solution

Our scope included the installation of partitions, joinery, ceilings and floors, along with mechanical and electrical infrastructure and new office furniture throughout.

All pretty straightforward until three days in the Government introduced a national lockdown and our works had to stop until the restrictions were lifted.
